Are there scents that take you to a certain place and time? That’s your olfactory memory at work. Whatever the season or wherever I am in the world, the fragrance of Hawaiian Tropic takes me to summer at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Sunscreen with high SPF may be recommended to protect the skin but Hawaiian Tropic smells like sun, sand, sea and fun. There’s more to seeing signs than what you see. All your senses can bring symbols, and smells are powerful memory triggers. Scientists say smell memories elicit strong emotions because of how scents travel from the nose to the emotion centers of the brain. Why do people have signature scents—to be memorable. So next time you have an olfactory memory, consider it a sign.
The nose knows — olfactory memories

Oh, this is a great one. Gardenia brings me back to bushes outside my window as a kid, and Coppertone is my beloved aunt trying to protect me from the sun. My olfactory sense does bring up lovely and strong emotional memories. Isn’t that something how that works? Love that sign.😀❤
The gardenia is my favorite smelling flower. How fortunate for you to have them outside your window!
