The bugs are out this time of year, and some are finding their way in. A friend texted that she has a cricket invasion in her home. Seems the crickets find her house to be hospitable for mating and birthing their cricket offspring. She googled to see if the crickets would be vacating anytime soon and found a few signs about the chirpy little insects. Some traditions including Feng Shui, and cultures including Chinese and Native Americans, see crickets entering the home as a symbol of good fortune and good luck. The jumping ability of crickets is also a sign to take a leap of faith. Early Chinese took in crickets for pets. Seems that my friend is enjoying this ancient Chinese practice. And good thing she has been a good host because killing crickets brings bad luck.
