Crows are interesting birds. They are highly intelligent and tend to have similar characteristics to people. Crows recognize humans that they like and may bring them gifts. Crows will also harass someone who has been mean to them. Don’t get on a crow’s bad side. These birds are social, and crow families stay together with older siblings helping to guard the nest and take care of their younger siblings. Crows will also band together to fight off predators. I wonder if black crows are aware that we call a group of them “a murder”—likely because they are scavengers—or that they are considered by some to be a bad omen of death—again, because they are scavengers. Technically, death doesn’t always mean the end of life, it can indicate changes and a new beginning. Native Americans believe crows are messengers between this life and the spirit world. The meaning changes with the number of crows seen—seeing one crow can be a sign of bad luck to come and a reminder to look inward, two crows are a sign that good luck is on the way, likewise, seeing three crows is a positive sign. Seeing multiple crows is a sign to be more like crows and work together in your community. When crows fly into your life, it’s time to take stock and determine the message they are bringing to help you fly right.

I had no idea crows meant so many different things. A “murder”? I have always seen them as good luck and a guide for me. While our life travels are all about the journey, we should be on the lookout for a sign . . . as the crow flies. 😀
there are always so many crows around my house. The sound they make isn’t pretty like song birds. Maybe that is another reason they aren’t popular birds. My neighbor leaves treats for the crows because she says they keep her yard safe. I have to ask her if she gets crow presents.
