A few years ago, a friend had a double lung transplant. The operation went well, and we were told he’d wake up the next day. Except the next day came and more hours passed, and he was still asleep. I went to Mass at a nearby Catholic church and sat toward the middle of the large church. While silently praying for my friend, it was as if Jesus’ face on the crucifix became a close up in front of mine and I heard “Have faith.” It wasn’t a message that my friend would be fine, just one to have faith. It was a peaceful message but not necessarily a hopeful one. The following day, my friend did awaken and was fine. Whatever happens, having faith will get us through, because not all outcomes will be positive but, thankfully, this time it was.
