We all have music that makes up the soundtrack of our lives. And some songs will always bring up a time, place or person. This is even true for Prince William, who says Tina Turner’s “The Best” reminds him of his mother, Princess Diana. It takes him back to a time driving back to boarding school after summer break with his mother and brother, Prince Harry. Happier times for sure for them. Prince William said when he hears “The Best,” he recalls memories of singing along with his mum and that it was an enjoyable family moment. Music touches everyone, even royalty.

“The Best” songs as signs

I love music and there is a constant soundtrack to different moments in my life. I’m “of a certain age” so I remember The Beatles, Elvis and The Beach Boys. Looking back I have so many vivid memories of where I was when a particular song or album was playing. Carol King’s Tapestry album echoed throughout the summer before college and James Taylor followed very closely behind. College brought new music through new friends and I laugh now when I think back to a night spent sleeping outside a stadium box office in order to get the best general admission seats to see Bob Dylan. Good times and good music go hand in hand for me to this day. But a song can also stop you dead in your tracks if it reminds you of a specific person you have lost. And that is also the beauty of music in your life. 🎶
That’s so true and so beautiful. ❤️ I never listened to country music but worked with a friend who would drive us to lunch and always had Alan Jackson playing. That was many jobs ago, but Alan Jackson and all country music makes me think of her and Olive Garden’s soup, salad and breadsticks!
❤️ love this
So True!!! Some old songs, bring me right back to high school!!!
It’s nice to revisit the good times!
I find music very powerful and moving, especially when it takes you back to a special moment!
In good times and even when we need a friend, music is a great companion. 🎼❤️
Ahh, that is so sweet. ‘Through the years’ by Kenny Rogers reminds me of my married years going through life with my husband I love that song. ’Like my father’’ by Jazz Reminds me of my husband-such a great husband and father!
There are other songs -one that reminds me of daughter and one that reminds me of my sister. Can’t remind the title or singer.
Another great post! Thank you
Songs are wonderful gifts that can touch our hearts, express our feelings and become signs of our loved ones.
