While the number 13 makes people with triskaidekaphobia cringe, Taylor Swift considers it her lucky number. Born on the thirteenth of December, it seems natural that Taylor Swift would have an affinity for the number, but it was all the signs that followed with 13 that got her attention. Whenever a 13 shows up in Taylor’s life, something great is happening for her. Ask any Swiftie and you’ll discover: Taylor turned 13 on Friday the 13th; her self-titled first album went gold in 13 weeks; there’s an unplanned 13-second intro on “Our Song,” her first number one Hot Country Songs; and every time she’s won an award, 13 was the number of her seat, section or she was in row M (the 13th letter). Taylor has had fun providing Easter Eggs for her Swifties such as the 13thtrack, “The Lucky One,” on her album Red has a 13-second intro and the word “lucky” is repeated 13 times. One of Taylor’s favorite signs for 13 happened when she was nervous before her first Country Music Award performance. When the producer approached her and said she would be performing live in 13 seconds, she took that as a sign everything would be fine. There’s no better ambassador for the maligned number 13 than Taylor Swift!
