Have you ever found a four-leaf clover? I received three of them nestled in a book once, but I had to return the book so I’m not sure if the luck rubbed off. I’ll let you know if I see signs that it did. Each clover leaf has a meaning — faith, hope, love and luck. Four-leaf clovers are associated with the Irish because it’s said that there are more four-leaf clovers in Ireland than anywhere else. That’s where we get the phrase “the luck of the Irish.” Shamrocks are not only an annual milkshake at McDonald’s, but the name of the more common three-leaf clover. When I stepped out of my car recently, I noticed a patch of shamrocks and looked around for a four-leaf clover but there wasn’t one. Not to worry because shamrocks are also known to provide protection from evil. Legend has it that St. Patrick used the shamrock to teach the ancient Irish about the concept of the Holy Trinity in Christianity. I also discovered that there are clovers with even more leaves. If you find a five-leaf clover, that extra leaf symbolizes wealth. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I may have to go back to that clover patch and start counting leaves again. Are there signs you’d like to know more about? Let us know at seeingsignsblog@gmail.com
