Actor Steve Guttenberg was a guest on Sherri Shepherd’s talk show promoting his new memoir, “Time to Thank: Caregiving for My Hero.” After reminding the audience of his movies “Police Academy” and “Three Men and a Baby,” the discussion turned to his book. Guttenberg had stepped away from his acting career for five years to be a caregiver for his dad Stanley. Steve said it was the easiest decision to make because his dad needed him. He and his sister went to school to learn how to administer home dialysis to sustain their dad who was in kidney failure. Before Stanley passed away at age 89, Steve had asked his dad to send him a sign. The day after his dad died, Steve opened the front door at his sister’s house and there was a white feather in the middle of the doormat. Then he turned around, and the dog had a small white feather on his nose. To Steve, this was his sign that his dad was saying hi. A white feather symbolizes that your angels are watching over you and a small white feather represents a loved one who has passed away. Many cultures believe that feathers are a way for the spirit world to communicate with us in this realm. Steve says he keeps seeing white feathers everywhere and he believes it’s a sign that his dad is saying hello.
